I was sweeping the kitchen floor one Sunday afternoon when an unexpected,  urgent pull hit me to go back to a park up north  I hadn’t visited in over a decade. I have a photo of my daughter at age five standing in front of some trees in that park that I pass in the hall everyday and I suddenly felt like I needed to return. I glanced at the clock, realized I could make it there an hour before sunset, and jumped in the car.
When I arrived, the light was perfect- late fall gold pouring over the fields, the moon already rising, the trees lit up in that autumn glow. I took what felt like a thousand photos, knowing some of them would eventually find their way into paintings.
This piece is one of those moments translated into wax and paint.
