I took the reference photo for this piece last winter on a long, bundled-up walk through a historic park near my home, one of those walks meant to shake off a seasonal slump.
This old 1800s house, tucked quietly among the trees, felt almost suspended in time. When the sun began to set, the whole scene shifted; the sky glowed through the bare branches, and it stopped me in my tracks.
I carried that moment home with me—a small surge of warmth and peace in the middle of winter.
