The oldest surviving examples of encaustic paintings are portraits from the ancient Egyptian time period. The likenesses captured in these pieces are as fresh and colorful today as when they were first painted due to the protective qualities of beeswax.

Continuing in this tradition but with my own unique and contemporary style, I combine encaustic with graphite, pastels, oil paint, and various other mediums to create an heirloom painting that captures the essence of you or your loved one that will be passed down through generations. Whether its having your child's likeness captured at a certain age, an elder in your family, or even a portrait of a person who has already passed on, my process of combining realistic drawings with the textured, luminous encaustic paint imbues each piece with a totally one-of-a-kind and deeply meaningful feeling.

These paintings make incredible gifts for holidays, weddings, retirement, or no occasion at all besides needing more beauty in your life! I work from photographs and the paintings are priced based on size, number of figures and complexity of background.

I work from high quality photographs. Base prices are as follows for one figure and solid colored background:

10"x10"-$600

12"x12"- $800

20"x20"-$1300

The painting is completed on a cradled wood panel that is wired and ready to hang. The sides are finished with your choice of gold, silver, or black stain.

A non-refundable 50% deposit is required before the work is started and the remaining balance is due before the painting is shipped.

Other sizes and options are available.
