12"x12" mixed media encaustic
I was watching the clouds drift overhead with the autumnal meadow below and an old farmhouse just on the horizon. Suddenly the clouds seemed to speed up for a minute in the wind and a shadow passed over the ground. I thought about all the seasons and accumulated time locked in that land and the many lives that have played out there. Just a small snippet in a long stretch of stories and the rising and falling of the year.
This painting includes encaustic, oil paint, pastels, handmade paper, lace, photo transfers, and gold leaf. Painted on a cradled birchwood panel 1 5/8" deep. The sides are stained antique gold and it comes wired and ready to hang.
